What You Resist, You Attract

by Raymond David Salas

ZenChill Power Shot:
What you resist, you attract.

One morning as I was arriving at work, I noticed a big seagull resting on the roof of one of the cars in the parking lot.

Even though the ocean is only a couple of blocks away, I had never seen a seagull hanging out behind the building where I work. I didn't think anything of it, so I parked my car and went inside to begin my work day.

The next day I saw the same bird again and thought to myself "What a funny place for a seagull to be hanging out again."

The following day, "Mr. Seagull" was there again, only this time, he was sitting on top of the car next to the space where I usually park. Before I pulled in, I realized that I better not park in my usual spot or the seagull might hop on my clean car and leave me a special "gift," as birds have been known to do from time to time. So, when I saw an open parking spot in the farthest corner of the lot, I took it. "My car will be safe from the seagull here," I said to myself, feeling very smart.

That night, I had a session with an Energy Healing client late into the evening. Therefore, everyone had already left the building long before me. When I was done for the night, I checked my phone and saw that I had a message. It was from the Clinic Director where I work, who was laughing, as she shared that when she left the building that night, she saw our seagull friend suddenly fly off the car where he had been resting all day and go directly to my car in the far corner of the parking lot. When he landed on the roof of my car, he lifted his rear feathers and well... you can probably guess the rest. That's right, bird crap on my clean car!

To emphasize the point even further, as soon as the seagull finished its business, it flew away, never to be seen again. Nice!
As I listened to her message, I started laughing too. Besides being a funny story, I got the lesson and the reminder: What you resist, you attract.

Oh yeah, that one.

What you resist, you attract.

I resisted and I attracted. Without a doubt.

But, like other times, I had to deal with a load of crap before I got the point.

Thank you, Mr. Seagull.

How to Find Your True Calling

by Raymond David Salas

Do you feel like you have found your true calling in life?

Do you feel like you are living your life’s purpose?

Are you happy and fulfilled?

If you answered “no” to any or all of these questions, you are not alone.

In fact, many of my Energy Healing and one-on-one coaching clients have come to me specifically asking how to find their true calling and purpose in life. Often, they will explain how they are working at a job they don’t really like or feel satisfied in because they need the money. They feel like they are capable of so much more, but don’t know what it is or if they do, where to start or how to move forward with it.

Can you relate?

Like so many others, I have searched for the answers to these same questions and problems myself in books, success programs, various aptitude and assessment tests, and personal readings of many types (incl., astrology, tarot, psychic, etc.).

Did I ever truly find the answers I was looking for? Well, not really.

So, how did I discover the secret to my true calling?

How to Find Your True Calling

Here is what finally worked for me:

No matter where I find myself at any given moment, I ask myself only one question: “How can I add value here right now?”

Whatever answer comes to me in response to this question, I then do my best to provide this value in the moment.

It doesn’t matter where I am, what I'm doing, or who I'm with. I try to make adding value to the present moment my only focus.

That’s it. That’s my secret.

Simple, yet VERY powerful.

Why is it so powerful?

Because it is based on a spiritual truth which says “Only what YOU have not given can be lacking in ANY situation.” (ACIM)

Not an easy concept for my ego to swallow, but I have found it to be true nonetheless.

The Key to Finding Your True Calling

What does all of this “providing value” stuff have to do with finding your true calling and purpose in life?

I discovered that as you make giving and adding value to each moment a regular, consistent pattern in your focus and behavior, all of the people, circumstances, work, situations, and anything else that is ideal...(drum roll, please)...will find you!

Ta-da! Just like magic.

No more searching. No one to ask. No more wondering what to do next. In fact, nothing else to figure out at all. Ever!

Just keep showing up to the moment and do your best to add value to it.

As this becomes a habit, you will become irresistible to your life’s purpose, true calling, and all of the prosperity and success that goes with it.

How cool is that?

“Prosperity comes from providing value to the Universe. And I believe the way to do that is by living your assignment. When you discover your true assignment, prosperity will find you. So how do you discover your assignment? I think it discovers you.” - Randy Gage
