The Secret Hawaiian System for Solving All of Your Problems

Written by Raymond Salas

Does a Hawaiian therapist hold the secrets to an ancient system for solving all of our problems?

Ho'oponopono – The Hawaiian Art of Problem Solving

Ho’oponopono is the ancient Hawaiian art of problem solving taught and revised by Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len of the Foundation of I.

In Ho’oponopono, problems are seen as opportunities for us to take full responsibility for them and invite Love in to remove them. It is believed that Love knows exactly how to solve all of our problems, regardless of whatever we may be experiencing in any area of our lives at any time.

How Ho'oponopono Works

In Ho’oponopono, problems are viewed as replayed subconscious thoughts and memories from the past that are presenting themselves now to be released by us. These thoughts and memories within us cause all physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, relationship, and financial problems in our lives.

After we take 100% responsibility for these thoughts and memories (and their resulting effects and problems), we can then release them using Ho’oponopono and be free to act on the inspiration that follows.

With our invitation, the power of Love will transmute all of the erroneous thoughts causing all of our problems. In Ho’oponopono this mysterious process works like this:
  • The energy of Love first neutralizes the emotions that have caused the problems (e.g., fear, anger, blame, resentment, confusion, etc.).
  • After the energies from these thoughts and memories have been neutralized, Love then releases them.
  • After they have all been released, Love then fills the void created here with Itself, which will restore and renew everything involved in the former problem.

How to Use Ho'oponopono

The simplest way to begin using Ho’oponopono is by focusing on the thought “I love you.” In Ho’oponopono, this is a powerful tool that can be used on any problem.

To apply it, you don’t even need to have the feeling of “I love you.” Whenever you focus on this thought, you are inviting in Love to erase the subconscious memory causing the problem. Once removed, whatever is right and perfect for you will follow.

Another way to invite the power of Love in is to say “I am sorry. Please forgive me.” Again, this is a call to Love to clear our subconscious memories and allow inspiration in.

What are we sorry for?

For the thoughts within us that have caused the problems we are experiencing.

In A Course In Miracles,” it says that regardless of the many different forms, “there is one problem and one solution. The problem is a grievance; the solution is a miracle. As I invite the solution to come through my forgiveness of the grievance, my welcome of the miracle takes its place.”

In other words, as we heal ourselves within and remember our Oneness with all, our world “out there” is healed and made whole.

As ACIM reminds us again: “There is no point in trying to change the world. It is incapable of change because it is merely an effect. But there is indeed a point in changing your thoughts about the world. Here you are changing the cause. The effect will change automatically.”

With Ho'oponopono, you don't even have to know what the problem is. You simply notice whenever you are experiencing a problem physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, financially, or any other. Then, you begin immediately to clear and release the energy from the thoughts and memories causing the problem by saying, "I'm sorry. Please forgive me."

Other possible phrases and thoughts to use here include:
  • "I am sorry. Please forgive me for whatever is going on inside of me that is causing this problem."
  • "I am sorry for whatever's going on here. Please forgive me."
  • "I am sorry for the erroneous thoughts within me that have caused this problem. Please forgive me."
Dr. Len says that you can also take full responsibility for the problem by simply saying "thank you" to the Divine (God, Buddha, Christ, etc.), who will in return cleanse you and erase the problem.

The most common ways to combine all of this is to simply say:
or...
  • "I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you."

The Key to Ho'oponopono

The key to Ho'oponopono can be found in the subjective reality model which is the basis for its foundation. From this perspective:
  1. Our life, world, and its experiences are the result of our thoughts.
  2. We are 100% responsible for creating all aspects of our life, world, and experiences.
  3. There is no such thing as a life, world and universe “out there.” Everything is merely a thought and extension of our own mind “in here.”
Whatever we think of as our body and world are actually caused by memories (mostly) and inspiration (rarely) coming from our subconscious mind. Therefore, the key to all problem solving is to recognize that all problems with the body and world are the effects of these subconscious memories replaying within us. These memories are the common catalysts or “triggers” for all that we see and feel, how we act, and what we decide in our daily life.

Of course, the irony with all of this is that our conscious mind and intellect believe that they are running “the show,” solving our problems, and controlling our experiences, not these subconscious memories as taught in Ho'oponopono.

However, science has shown us that this is not necessarily the case and what Ho'oponopono is saying may actually be true.

Dr. Len shares that research studies cited in the book “User Illusion: Cutting Consciousness Down To Size” by Tor Norretranders prove that “decisions are made
before consciousness (and the conscious mind) makes them. And that the intellect is not aware of this, believing that it decides.”

Dr. Len - The World's Most Unusual Therapist

Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len was a therapist first introduced to many by Joe Vitale in
The World’s Most Unusual Therapist.”

This article shares the intriguing story about Dr. Len when he worked as a therapist for the Hawaiian state mental hospital and cured the entire hospital of criminals, all without seeing or meeting with a single inmate.

How did he do it?

He simply looked at each patient’s file and then worked on healing himself to clear whatever was in him that created each patient and their condition. He did this by saying repeatedly “I’m sorry. I love you.” over and over again.

Within a couple of months, the patients started to get better until eventually, they were all cured, released, and the hospital was forced to shut down.

As Dr. Len reveals, "If you want to improve your life, you have to heal your life. If you want to cure anyone, even a mentally ill criminal you do it by healing you.”

Here, Dr. Len is reminding us of the incredible power we all have when we take 100% responsibility for every aspect and detail of our lives. If it’s in our life, it is our responsibility, no exceptions.

Living a Life with Zero Limits

Due to the response from his story and teachings, Dr. Len and Joe Vitale joined together to publish “
Zero Limits” – The Secret Hawaiian System for Wealth, Health, Peace, and More.”

This book reveals the ancient wisdom of Ho'oponopono, as taught by Dr. Len, “for removing mental obstacles and freeing people to automatically manifest wealth, health, peace, and more - beyond all understanding.”

Can you imagine living a life without any limits or problems?

With Ho'oponopono, as revised and taught by Dr. Len, living a life with zero limits is not only a possibility, but it can also be a reality too.
