There is a game of TAG circling the blogosphere. If you have already visited other personal development sites such as The Good Life, Passion Meets Purpose, Make It Great!, Success from the Nest, and the Balanced Life Center, you may already be aware of it. I enjoy participating in this type of game because it is fun and brings us all closer together.
Maria from The Good Life has tagged me. So, now I am asked to reveal five things that others may not know about me. Personally, I feel like it is very symbolic that I have been tagged by “The Good Life” because I do believe that this is true, both literally and figuratively. I thank the Universe and Maria for this reminder.
Well, here goes…
Five things that you may not know about Raymond from ZenChill.com Power Tools Blog:
- I was a DJ. Yes, as in “raise the roof,” “shake your groove thing,” “back that thang up,” and all of the rest. To date, according to my agent and my own records, I have done over 1000 shows. I have been the Friday and Saturday night DJ at many popular hip hop night clubs. I have done shows here in Los Angeles with the popular alternative radio station KROQ. My biggest show ever was the Orange County AIDS Walk, which one year drew over 15,000 participants. Playing to this many people is definitely a rush. I did this show for ten consecutive years. Currently, I still have the “DJ bug” and make all types of music mixes (e.g., indie, alternative, “chill”, hip hop, funk, and soul) for myself, family and friends. I am also the one who usually gets the phone calls that go like “Hey, who was the band that sang that song that goes ‘doot doot’?”
- Although I currently live in Los Angeles, I am originally from the “O.C.”. Yes, Orange County just like the TV show. Most of my family and many friends still live there, so I do visit regularly. And, just like another TV show, I have lived in Laguna Beach (two blocks from the ocean) in the “O.C.”. All that I can say to describe my living in Laguna Beach experience is “Awesome!” (but it wasn't at all like the TV show with the same name).
- I am part of a group of very artistic siblings. My sister is a painter. My brother is a musician, who at one time was a “roadie” for the band No Doubt (who are also from the “O.C.”). My other sister is a journalist and graphic designer.
- For over three years now, I have been the coach for a playoff-level, adult co-ed softball team called “Let’s Do It!” (“Let’s Do It!” is a phrase that I borrowed from the powerful research presented in The Hidden Messages of Water). I am also the pitcher and lead-off hitter for the team. Fortunately, here in Los Angeles, we are able to play year-round, which I love!
- I also play basketball every week, with the same group of friends (just like George Clooney reportedly does). My friends and I have been playing together every week for over five years now. And just like my softball games, we are able to play outdoors all year. How cool is that?
Well, enough about me...it is now my turn to TAG…Lyman Reed, Alexander Becker, Ravi Raman, Thea Westra, and Margo.
Thank you everyone for listening.
And, thank you Maria for inviting me to play.
