How to Clear Your Karma

What is karma?

How important is karma?

What role does karma and its effects play in our lives?

According to Dr. Zhi Gang Sha: "Karma is the root cause of success and failure in every aspect of life."

Who is Dr. Zhi Gang Sha?

Dr. Zhi Gang Sha is a spiritual healer, who is also trained as both a conventional Western medical doctor and a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine.

He is considered a grandmaster of healing and many ancient disciplines by spiritual leaders such as Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith, founder of the Agape International Spiritual Center, and medical leaders such as Dr. C. Norman Shealy who, in The Power of Soul, wrote: "Dr. Sha is the most inspirational healer and teacher available in North America today. Master healers are rare. Here is one of the living masters of soul healing and its effects upon mind and body."

What is "karma"?

In Buddhist teachings, "good" karma is the combined record of all good deeds in one's current life and all past lives. "Bad" karma is the combined record of all unpleasant, hurtful, or harmful deeds in one's current life and all past lives.

In simple terms, the law of karma can be summed up: "Whatever you give (in thought, word, or deed), you will receive."

"Good karma blesses your life. Bad karma creates all kinds of lessons and blockages in your life." - Dr. Zhi Gang Sha

How to Clear Your Karma

In The Power of Soul, Dr. Sha offers a new way to clear your karma. He recommends singing "Love, Peace and Harmony," a Soul Song given to him by the Divine:

I love my heart and soul
I love all humanity
Join hearts and soul together
Love, peace and harmony
Love, peace and harmony

"This Soul Song is simple, but it is a divine mantra for healing, life transformation, and soul enlightenment. It has great power for cleaning karma." - Dr. Zhi Gang Sha

Lester Levenson on "The Power of Love"

Lester Levenson was a physicist and successful entrepreneur, who at age 42, after his second coronary, was sent home by his doctors to die. Given only weeks to live, he began a process of self-inquiry to search for answers.

It was during this examination of his life that he realized that he had always been the happiest when he was loving, specifically, when he was loving rather than being loved. So, he wondered if he would get better by letting go all of his non-loving feelings.

As a result, he developed a self-help technique for cutting through his conscious mind to release these non-loving feelings and inner limitations. As he continued to probe, uncover, and release each of his non-loving feelings in the different areas of his life, he noticed that he started to feel better. After three months, his body was completely healed and healthy again. Furthermore, he found himself happy all the time, with his mind totally at peace.

He then dedicated the next 40+ years of his life sharing his discovery, now known as "The Sedona Method," helping others to experience greater happiness, peace, and joy in their lives.

Lester Levenson on "The Power of Love"

Here are some quotes from Lester Levenson on "The Power of Love":

"The original state for all Beings is Love. Our troubles are due only to our covering over this natural state."

"If we want to be loved, the way to get it is to love. It is not only the very best method, but it is the only method. To receive love we must love because what we give out must come back. If I love you, I feel wonderful. If you love me, you feel wonderful. It's the one who loves who feels great. So wanting to be loved is getting into a direction that can never be satisfied. The happy one is the one loving, the one giving."

"Love eliminates fear. Love eliminates anxiety."

"Love is effortless, whereas hate requires much effort."

"The more we develop love, the more we come in touch with the harmony of the universe; the more delightful our life becomes, the more beautiful, the more everything it becomes."

"This thing called love is your basic nature. All the love in the universe is in your basic nature. You will discover that happiness -- your happiness -- equates to your capacity to love, and conversely all your miseries equate to your need to be loved. Just love, love, love and you will be so happy and healthy and prosperous. Remember, you need to release your non-love feelings. Try it, you will like it."

"We feel the greatest when we love."

Lester Levenson's "Square All with Love" Technique

Lester Levenson developed a powerful tool called the "Square All with Love" technique for changing all of our non-love feelings to love. It is based on the premise that our true nature is loving. However, this often gets covered over from our awareness by our non-loving feelings. Therefore, as we release these non-loving feelings, our true nature will return to our awareness.

Sounds simple enough, right?

Here's how to use Lester Levenson's "Square All with Love" technique:

Whenever you have a non-loving feeling that you want to release, simply ask yourself: "Could I change this feeling to love?"

When you answer "yes," the non-loving feeling will start to go. It's that easy!

In the book "Happiness Is Free - And It's Easier Than You Think," Hale Dwoskin explains this process further:

"Letting go is always merely a choice, and if you allow yourself to make this choice, the non-loving feeling that is appearing on the surface will dissolve, revealing the love that is always right in the background waiting to be uncovered. It is an invitation for love to dissolve whatever other feeling is on the surface."

Now, it may take a few tries using this technique to completely release some of the deep-seated non-loving feelings. That's okay. Just keep doing it until the non-loving feeling is gone.

The good news is that it does work.

Hale Dwoskin agrees: "Since love has infinite power there is no feeling that love cannot dissolve."

With practice, you will find that the "Square All with Love" technique will become easier and faster for you.

How to Access the Power of Grace

Is the power of grace real?

What role does grace play in healing?

What would it be like if you knew how to access the power of grace and utilize it in your everyday life?

In her latest book, Defy Gravity: Healing Beyond the Bounds of Reason, best-selling author and medical intuitive Caroline Myss, answers these questions and more by exploring the power of grace and its impact in our daily life experiences.

"Grace is not just a vague divine substance or some poetic ideal that mad mystics came up with in an altered state. Grace is a subtle force beyond the grasp of reason. It is a divine power, a force that the laws of nature are often subject to rather than the other way around, as in the matter of miracles. Grace is what heals." - Caroline Myss

The Truths of The Soul: Keys to Healing

In her over twenty-five years as a medical intuitive and teacher, Caroline has observed what she calls the five essential "truths of the soul" which are the keys to healing and accessing the power of grace.

The five truths of the soul are:

  • You can't reason with illness, crisis, or God.

She shares that "the people who have described their healing process...have many beliefs and attitudes in common. First and perhaps most elemental among them is the realization that it was essential to give up the need to know why things happened as they did. Until you surrender the need to know why things happened to you as they did, you will hold on to your wounds with intense emotional fire."

  • Connect with meaning and purpose.

She explains that "the quest for meaning and purpose...is an inherent yearning to become a whole person, liberated from the fears that pervade the heart and mind and take control of one's life force. It is a rare person who can pierce the veil between ordinary life, consumed with matters of physical survival, and pursuit of the empowered path of purpose and meaning unless he or she is motivated by a crisis."

  • Courageously navigate the dark night of the soul.

Caroline discovered that no matter how much we think we understand all that we must do to heal, there is always something in us that fights the healing process.

It is here, we encounter the seven "dark" passions of pride, avarice (greed), luxury (self-entitlement), wrath, gluttony, envy, and sloth (laziness).

She notes that it is only through facing our dark passions that we can defeat them. From the darkness will come the seven "gifts of the spirit," which are the illuminated graces that naturally heal disease and pain.

  • Rely on the power of your graces.

"You cannot be a fully healed, or even slightly healthy, person without your graces flowing. To know grace fully and directly, you must turn inward. Grace makes itself known to you through prayer." - Caroline Myss

And so, it is through the power of prayer that we invoke the power of grace in all of its expressions. Caroline defines these expressions as the seven graces of reverence, piety, understanding, fortitude (courage), counsel, knowledge, and wisdom.

She offers specific prayers to invoke and access the power of each of these seven graces. Her insights penetrate to the core of each grace and how they relate to our daily life. As a result, she has created a template and model for healing ourselves, not just physically, mentally, and emotionally, but also on a soul level.

What could be more powerful than that?

  • Defy gravity and learn to reason like a mystic.

The key to "defying gravity" (i.e., operating outside the realm of reason and logic) is by learning to think and perceive the world as a mystic does, beyond the limitations of conventional fears, social beliefs, and programming.

How do we develop this type of mystical consciousness?

By being in alignment with what she calls the "five mystical laws," which are:

  1. There is only now.
  2. The necessity of forgiveness.
  3. All is illusion.
  4. Trust in divine paradox, irony, and synchronicity.
  5. Maintain spiritual congruency.

Here, Caroline describes each of these mystical laws and offers specific ways for "falling into harmony" with them.

I found her insights to be thought-provoking and helpful.

Here are some of my favorite ones:

"How do (you) let go of the past? It's simple, but not easy. You have to give up the need to punish the people who hurt you."

"Without forgiveness, you remain anchored in your past, forever in emotional debt."

"The ability or inability to forgive affects the outcome of serious illness."

"The mystical truth is that forgiveness has nothing to do with the person you are forgiving; it is a self-initiated act of transformation in which you release yourself."

"Why events happen as they do in your life, from the grandest or most devastating to the most seemingly insignificant, is beyond your ability to know. The deeper truth is that there is not one reason why a particular thing happens as it does."

"(The ego) bases every decision on either what it already knows and is familiar with or what it views as safe, all of which Buddha identified as pure illusion."

"People who look to their past will not do well, because the past is no longer relevant."

"Learn to endure. Remember that no plan unfolds in an afternoon. Have no expectations of anything. Let everything be a surprise."

"Be outrageously bold in your belief that you will be guided but do not have expectation of how that guidance will unfold."

How to Access the Power of Grace

Caroline reminds us that "learning to defy gravity in your world -- to think, perceive, and act at the mystical level of consciousness -- is the greatest gift you can give yourself, because it is the gift of truth. And as we are bound to learn again and again in this life, the truth does indeed set us free."

So, how do we access the power of grace?

She encourages each of us to:

  • Live as if you were liberated from ordinary thought, beyond the boundaries of logic and reason.
  • Be bold in your decisions and creative and imaginative in your thoughts.
  • Think and live with the soul of a mystic, seeing the world as a field of grace in which you walk around as a channel of light.

"Live these truths. Become these truths. This is your highest potential. Live as though you have the power to change the world -- because you do." - Caroline Myss

The Power of Forgiving Yourself

by Raymond David Salas

How powerful is learning to forgive yourself?

Could forgiving yourself be the key to solving all of your problems?

"To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you." - Lewis B. Smedes

"Lack of forgiveness causes almost all of our self-sabotaging behavior." - Mark Victor Hansen

"When you forgive yourself you let go of a part of yourself, the part that wants to keep you trapped inside a circle of blame, shame, guilt and fear. This part of you, which essentially is part of your ego, does not want you to be free of it because ego does not want to relinquish control." - Carol King

The Power of Forgiving Yourself

In my work over the years as an Energy Healer, I have recognized that a common cause of the problems that people experience in the different areas of their lives is a lack of forgiveness for themselves.

This lack of forgiveness manifests and plays out in many ways and behaviors including:
  • being judgmental and critical of self and others
  • inability to trust self or others
  • not feeling comfortable in one's "own skin"
  • inability to fully appreciate or accept when good things happen, feeling guilty or undeserving when they do
  • inability to receive praise, compliments, or positive feedback, feeling awkward or self-conscious when you do
  • having feelings of low self-esteem and unworthiness
  • attacking self or others (mentally, emotionally, verbally, physically)
  • feeling or becoming addicted to unrewarding, harmful or toxic substances, relationships, behaviors, etc.
  • having money and financial problems
  • having a lack, poverty, or scarcity mindset
  • having destructive feelings, thoughts, or behaviors toward self or others
  • seeking acceptance, recognition, or approval from others
  • having anorexia, bulimia, and other weight or body issues
  • blaming anything or anyone outside of yourself for your problems
  • trying to control or manipulate circumstances, situations, or people

If you have experienced (or still do) one or more of these behaviors, there is a solution.

Yes, you may have guessed it already. It starts with forgiveness.

"All human experience is taking place within consciousness itself. We are subject only to what we hold in mind - consciously or unconsciously. The willingness to be forgiving and grateful in itself automatically begins the healing process. It is only the removal of the negative that is necessary -- the willingness to let go of the habits of negative thinking." - David R. Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D.

Forgiveness of self and others is powerful because it trains the mind to let go of the tendency to criticize, attack, and judge ourselves and others.

As therapist Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len points out, these "thoughts within (us) actualize as spiritual, mental, emotional, physical, relational and financial problems in (our) lives and in the lives of (our) families, relatives, ancestors, friends, neighbors, and associates."

How to Forgive Yourself

Here are tools and exercises that I have found to be very effective for forgiving yourself:

- Daily mirror exercise:

After awakening each morning and just before sleep every night, go to a mirror, take several deep breaths and look deeply into your eyes. As you look deeply into your eyes, try to make a connection with the Inner You. As you do, say sincerely and with deep feeling: “I love you. I forgive you. I love you. I forgive you. I love you. I forgive you.”

Take a deep breath. Repeat at least three times.

“(This type of exercise is) very simple, but for some it will require a lot of courage. For others, it will take telling their ego to back off, because ego will try and convince them how stupid this really is and that it doesn’t work. The more uncomfortable or silly this feels when you first do it, will indicate how little you Love your Self. At the other end of the spectrum, the more comfortable and good you feel doing it, will indicate how much you Love your Self.” - Al Diaz

I recommend practicing this daily exercise for a minimum of thirty consecutive days. If you miss a day, simply begin again and continue until you can complete at least thirty consecutive days.

Although thirty consecutive days is the absolute minimum that I would recommend for this exercise, for the greatest benefit, I suggest making it a permanent part of your daily routine.

Why?

Because I have found, in myself and my clients, that it is very beneficial to practice forgiving and loving yourself every day.

"As in all spiritual work, it is discovered that the mind resists letting go of negative programs despite the suffering that it occasions. The source of this resistance is the secret payoff that the ego gets from negativity. The ego derives pleasure from 'justified' resentments, blame, self-pity, and all the rest. Secretly, people just 'love' to hate, blame, and get even as well as being 'right' or 'superior,' and more." - David R. Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D.

- Request a miracle exercise:

Here is a revised version of the "request a miracle" exercise originally published in my article "How to Request a Miracle":

To begin, make a list with all of your “problems” that you are facing in your life right now. By “problem,” I am referring to everything that does not feel good or bring you joy, everything that does not bring you peace, and everything that you feel challenged with in any way. Don't hold back. Let it all come out.

After completing the list, write at the top of the page “I forgive, release, and let go of all of the following now:”

Next, read each item aloud and say:

"I cancel all of the beliefs and whatever is going on inside of me responsible for all of this now. I choose to love myself and forgive myself instead."

Take a deep breath, release it, and let it go.

Repeat all of these steps for each item until you have completed your list.

As I discussed in "How to Solve All of Your Problems," this is a powerful method for forgiving yourself and taking full responsibility for all areas of your life. By taking full responsibility, you become empowered to initiate the miracles and changes that you truly desire.

After you feel like you have completed this exercise and are ready to move on, shred or discard the list.

Why is this exercise so powerful?

Because it addresses directly the causes of our problems at the source (i.e., in our consciousness).

"It is crucial in problem solving to realize that the body and the world are not the problems in and of themselves but the effects, the consequences, of memories replaying in the subconscious mind." - Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len

"There is no point in trying to change the world. It is incapable of change because it is merely an effect. But there is indeed a point in changing your thoughts about the world. Here you are changing the cause. The effect will change automatically. Each time you forgive you call upon the strength in you. Forgiveness is the home of miracles." - A Course In Miracles

How To Get A Good Night's Sleep

Do you have trouble sleeping?

Do you wake up in the morning and not feel refreshed?

Do you feel like you're running on empty?

Do you need coffee, soda, or sugary snacks to get going and keep going?

If you answered "yes" to any or all of these questions, Dr. Frank Lipman may have a solution for you.

In his latest book "Spent: End Exhaustion and Feel Great Again," Dr. Lipman outlines an easy program to restore energy and health. He has helped thousands of patients through his medical practice with a blend of Western and alternative medicine.

His program offers many solutions for stress, diet, nutrition, and exercise.

One of the key components for Dr. Lipman's program is improving sleep and getting a good night's sleep every night.

How to Get a Good Night's Sleep

So, how do you get a good night's sleep?

Here are some of Dr. Lipman's recommendations for improving your sleep and sleeping well:

  • Don't watch TV in bed.
"There are only two things you should do in bed, and they both begin with the letter 'S,' as in sleep and sex. Save other activities, such as watching TV, working on your laptop, knitting, or even reading, for your easy chair." - Dr. Frank Lipman

The light from watching television or working on your laptop may prevent your natural sleeping rhythm from activating, specifically, stopping melatonin levels from rising (which is needed to induce sleep naturally). Melatonin also plays a vital role in synchronizing our internal body clock, regulating our body's rhythms, and promoting our overall health.

  • Have an Electronic Sundown.
What is an Electronic Sundown? Turn your TV, cell phone, and computer off at 10 p.m. (or earlier). Yes, this includes handheld devices like Blackberrys, iPhones, and Treos, and all wireless connections.

The electromagnetic frequencies (EMFs) from cell phones, wireless computers, and other devices can drain our energy and affect our health. If you must keep them on, Dr. Lipman advises keeping them as far away from your head as possible and out of the bedroom, if possible.

If there is a show you must watch, record it. If you have work to do, go to bed earlier and get up earlier to do it instead.

  • Breathe mindfully before bed.
Here are Dr. Lipman's guidelines for breathing mindfully:

Sit in a chair with a straight back. Place both feet flat on the floor, and lay your hands on your lap, or gently on your thighs. Close your eyes, focus your energy down to your feet, and "watch" as you inhale and exhale through your nose. Take easy breaths. Don't force anything. When you notice your mind wandering or losing focus, simply bring your attention back to feet and breath.

"Watching the breath is a wonderful way to prepare for bed -- it settles the mind, relaxes the body, and is a great way to transition out of your day." - Dr. Frank Lipman

  • Take a long bath to relax.
A long bath removes tension and relaxes the muscles. Dr. Lipman recommends adding Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) to your bath, which reduces inflammation and restores balance.

  • To prepare for sleep, practice the basic Savasana or "corpse" yoga pose for five minutes.
"This pose is deceptively simple. Five minutes of Savasana removes mental and physical fatigue and soothes the sympathetic nervous system." - Dr. Frank Lipman

  • Darken your bedroom.
According to Dr. Lipman, even a tiny bit of light in the bedroom can disrupt our body's natural rhythms and pineal gland's production of serotonin and melatonin.

If you get up in the middle of the night, use a night light or flashlight because as soon as you turn on a bright light in the bathroom (or anywhere else), all melatonin production ceases for that night.

Wow, who knew?

  • Before bed, try the Ultimate Foot Massage.
Because of what our feet go through on a daily basis, Dr. Lipman recommends what he calls the "Ultimate Foot Massage" to relieve and repair our feet and body every day.

  • Turn thermostat down and keep your bedroom cool for sleep.
Sleeping in a cool room (60-65 degrees F.) mirrors our body's natural rhythm of cooling for sleep and is best for most people, even in winter. The lower temperature stimulates the production and release of hormones for sleep.

In hot weather, Dr. Lipman suggests using a floor or ceiling fan to create a breeze or an air conditioner set at about 70 degrees F.

  • Establish a regular sleep schedule.
"Nothing helps your circadian rhythms more than getting up and going to sleep at the same times every day. People who regulate their sleep schedules give their bodies the opportunity to establish a rhythm. Someone who changes sleeping and waking times has a body that constantly needs to recalibrate, which tires it out. In a sense, a lack of schedule puts the body into a perpetual state of mild jet lag." - Dr. Frank Lipman

  • Take nutrients to calm mind and body down, to get ready for sleep.
Certain nutrients calm the body and mind down to prepare for sleep. These nutrients include the following calming amino acids: L-theanine (100-300 milligrams), 5-HTP (50-100 milligrams), and GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) (200-500 milligrams). Taking the minerals calcium and magnesium at night is also helpful.

Dr. Lipman recommends the following sleep formulas to receive these key nutrients to promote sleep:

  • Before bed, do something to help you chill out.
Meditate. Listen to a chill mix of your favorite music. Watch a funny movie (before 10p.m., of course) or read a funny book.

  • Open your heart more.
For 10-15 minutes, try to engender a sense of gratitude. If negative thoughts interrupt, let them go and continue. One of the most powerful ways I have found to practice and incorporate this into my life daily is by keeping a gratitude journal.

  • Try to wake up without an alarm clock.
Once you follow Dr. Lipman's various guidelines and try his recommendations and you are sleeping better, he then recommends trying to wake up without an alarm clock:

"It can be very stressful to your body to be woken up by an alarm clock. So try not using an alarm clock and see if you really need it (after you have regulated and established a sleep schedule where you are waking up at about the same time every day).

If you are stressed by the idea that you will not wake up in time to get to work (school, etc.), lower the volume of the alarm clock and move it across the room so that the volume and impact of the sound are decreased."

To learn more recommendations for improving your sleep, energy levels, and overall health (and well-being), I highly recommend "Spent: End Exhaustion and Feel Great Again" by Dr. Frank Lipman.

The Secret to Manifesting Your Desires

by Raymond David Salas

Do you really want to know how to manifest your desires?

Have you tried many techniques but nothing has changed for you?

Are you looking for something that actually works?

If you answered "yes" to any or all of these questions, I can relate.

I have felt like this before, until I came across a realization that changed everything for me.

So, what is this "secret" to manifesting your desires?

The Secret to Manifesting Your Desires

The secret to manifesting your desires is: Tell a different story, a story of what you want and stop telling the story of what don't want (e.g. complaining, blaming, worrying, etc.).

Sounds simple, right?

It
is simple. Simple, yet powerful.

In fact, it's the most powerful thing you can do to manifest your desires.

The power comes from one simple truth: You get what you think about (whether you want it or not).

"There is no problem without a mental story around your circumstances." - Eckhart Tolle

Sorry, there's no way around this one because...

"The Law of Attraction brings you more of whatever you give your attention, energy, and focus to." - Michael Losier

The Benefit of Telling the Story of What You Want

The greatest benefit of telling the story of what you want is that it feels good to do it.

Why is this so powerful?

Because your feelings always energize the thoughts of what you want. Therefore, you will manifest your desires faster...sometimes even experience instant manifestation by focusing your energy in this way.

"You must find a way of feeling the excitement or satisfaction of your currently unrealized dreams before those dreams can become your reality. You have to tell a different story. You have to begin to tell the story of your life as you now
want it to be and discontinue the tales of how it has been or of how it is. You are never only telling the story of 'how it is now.' You are also telling the story of the future experience that you are creating right now." - Abraham-Hicks

Just like planting seeds, all the stories that you're telling yourself (or others) right now are creating future experiences (wanted or not).

If you're worried about the "bad" seeds you may have "planted" in the past, there is a remedy:

The Key to Applying the Secret of Manifesting Your Desires

The key to applying the secret of manifesting your desires begins with one simple question.

Ask yourself now: "Am I willing to let go of all of the stories of everything I don't want, everything that doesn't feel good to me, starting now?"

In other words:
  • Am I willing to stop complaining? gossiping? worrying?
  • Am I willing to stop "telling it like it is," keeping it "real," if it doesn't feel good to do so?
  • Am I willing to stop seeing myself as a victim, at the effect of anything or anyone outside of myself?
  • Am I willing to stop blaming, attacking, or making others wrong for any or all areas of my life? (see "The Power of Forgiveness")
  • Am I willing to stop focusing on everything that doesn't feel good (yes, everything!) starting now?

A simple "yes" or "no" answer to these questions will do. No "yes, buts." No explanations are necessary (even if you feel justified in your reasoning).

And if you feel like this is all too much to handle (as in "a big load of crap") or you can't do this (as in "no way in hell"), let me ask you this:

"Do you want to be right or happy?" (ACIM)

It's your choice.

Personally, I choose to be happy.

So, either you're willing to let go of the stories, attention, energy, and focus on everything you don't want or you're not. Simple.

I know this may sound a bit harsh, drastic or crazy to some (or many), but no one can escape or avoid the universal truth that we each get what we think about (i.e., give our attention, energy, or focus to). Period.

How to Apply the Secret to Manifesting Your Desires

Okay, then.

How do you apply the secret to manifesting your desires? Where do you begin?

Here's how:

"Start telling a more positive, better-feeling story about your life and the things that are important to you.

Do not write (or tell) your story like a factual documentary, weighing all the pros and cons of your experience, but instead tell the uplifting, fanciful, magical story of the wonder of your own life and watch what happens. It will feel like magic as your life begins to transform right before your eyes, but it is not by magic. It is by the power of the Laws of the Universe and your deliberate alignment with those Laws." (Abraham-Hicks)

And, the best news of all is that you and only you get to decide what the content of your "new" story is.

My main recommendation here is: Do not seek the approval of others. They do not need to believe in the story of what you want or desire. Only you do. So, stop trying to convince others. It is wasted effort.

"You do not need everyone or anyone else to align with your desire—only you need to align with your desire." (A-H)

"Attempting to convince others of your point of view is wasted effort because you are obviously not convinced of it yourself." - Yoga In A Book

Instead,
start with you. Tell the story of what you want to yourself. Then, when you truly believe it, your story will manifest and you'll be living it. You'll become it.

Now, how cool is that?

"I just pretended I was someone else until that some else became me." - Steven Tyler, rock legend and lead singer of the band Aerosmith.

Abraham-Hicks on "What is normal?"

“Most of you feel resistance and think it’s normal, and we want you to know it’s not - it’s not normal.

It’s ABNORMAL.

It is not anything like who you are.

What is normal to you is enthusiasm!

What is normal to you is laughing a lot - many, many times a day!

What is normal to you is feeling strong and secure!

What is normal to you is feeling so much self-confidence, so sure about who you are that when you look at others you’re always in a position to uplift them.

What is normal to you is to have so much energy that at the end of the day you’re still looking for things to do!

What is normal to you is to have such a passion for life that you’re eager to get together with other people to hear about what they’re doing to see if it’s anything you might want to turn a little of your attention to.

What is normal to you is to have so much energy at the end of the day that you’re already eagerly planning tomorrow.

What is normal to you is feeling disappointed that the sun goes down and enthusiastic that the sun comes up.

What is normal is a zest for life beyond anything that most of you over eight (years old) have remembered or felt in a long long time.

THAT’S what’s normal!”

- Abraham-Hicks

The Secret of Life

by Raymond David Salas

What is the secret of life?

Often, we ask ourselves this question when we find ourselves in a situation or faced with a problem that doesn't feel good, usually related to some health, money, work, career, relationship, family, or other issue.

Other times, we ask this question when we get something that we thought we wanted or desired and yet somehow, still feel empty, unsatisfied, or detached afterwards.

Can you relate?

So, what is the secret of life?

What is life's real meaning?

To answer these questions, we must first look at two inescapable truths or what I like to call "The Most Powerful Universal Truths."

The Most Powerful Universal Truths

  • This moment is all there is.

The first most powerful, inescapable truth is that this moment is all there is. There is no getting around this one, but if you're like most people, you can still overlook this one often. We do this by giving our attention to the past (i.e., our "story" of what has already happened) or by projecting ourselves into the future, anticipating or imagining what could happen (often, a "worse case scenario").

"Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have. Life is now. There was never a time when your life was not now, nor will there ever be. Nothing ever happened in the past; it happened in the Now. Nothing will ever happen in the future; it will happen in the Now. Wherever you are, be there totally. If you find your here and now intolerable and it makes you unhappy, you have three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it totally." - Eckhart Tolle

Which leads us to our second most powerful, inescapable universal truth:

  • The greatest power you have is how you choose to respond to this present moment.

Each of us has 100% free will to decide how we will respond to the present moment. And here, there are really only two choices that we can make:

  1. We can respond to the present moment in a way that feels good.
  2. We can respond to the present moment in a way that doesn't feel good.

When you think about having only two choices in how to respond to the present moment, the first choice seems obvious (to feel good) and the second choice (to not feel good) seems insane.

So, why then do we so often choose to respond to the present moment in ways that don't feel good?

For many reasons...here are just a few of them:
  • habits of thought;
  • memories, both subconscious and unconscious;
  • social conditioning;
  • peer, family, cultural, environmental, and/or other influences;
  • unconsciously reacting, instead of consciously choosing how to respond.

The Secret of Life

So, what is the secret of life?

Find a way to feel good in the present moment.

If you feel like this is impossible, then find a way to feel better or as good as possible in the present moment.

If not, do you have a better alternative?

How to Live the Secret of Life

Here are some ways that I have found on how to live the secret of life and feel good (or better) in the present moment.

  • Look for things to be grateful for.

Instead of looking at what has gone wrong, shift your attention and look for things to be grateful for.

Abraham-Hicks, in "Ask and It Is Given," offer a process called "The Rampage of Appreciation" game where, in the present moment, you look around your immediate environment (e.g., your car, home, work, etc.) and notice something that pleases you. Next, you try to keep your attention on this pleasing object as long it is comfortable, noticing how wonderful, beautiful, or useful it is. Then, you move on to another pleasing object and continue playing this game for 10-15 minutes at a time, or as long as it is comfortable for you.

Why is this game so powerful?

"Once you become oriented toward looking for things to appreciate, you will find that your day will be filled with such things. Your thoughts and feelings of appreciation will flow from you naturally. And often, while in the midst of a genuine feeling of appreciation for someone or something, you will feel ripples of goose bumps -- those sensations are confirming your alignment with your Source." - Abraham-Hicks

How cool is that?

Here are some ideas to help you shift your energy, attention, and focus to appreciating more things in the present moment:
  1. Stop telling and retelling (mentally, verbally, or in any other way) the "story" of the past, including everything that has gone wrong and/or anything negative about the things, people, circumstances, etc. in the past.
  2. Stop complaining, gossiping, whining, and blaming anyone or anything for any aspect or detail of your life experience.
  3. Forgive everything and everyone from the past, including yourself.
  4. Let go of trying to control or manipulate anyone or anything in your life. Choose to allow everything and everyone to be as they are instead.
  5. Be flexible and look for the opportunities, instead of what has gone wrong or what is not working or falling apart in your life. Try your best to not resist change or changing.
  6. Be open to greater possibilities (including miracles) or things simply being better than they have been in the past (but don't try to figure out the "how," just stay open and flexible).
  7. Look for or imagine the greatest potential, possibilities, and outcomes for yourself and others in your life (instead of worrying, thinking, or imagining the things that could go wrong for yourself or them).

  • Do it for the joy of it.

The other way that I have found to be very helpful and beneficial in living the secret of life is no matter where I'm going, what I'm doing, or who I'm doing it with, do it for the sheer joy of it.

Why is this so important?

"When you follow your bliss, when you follow your path to joy, your conversation is of joy, your feelings are of joy -- you're right on the path of that which you intended when you came forth into this physical body." - Abraham-Hicks

In other words, this is why each of us came here, to this lovely planet of ours.

This is our purpose in life.

There is nothing else. There are no things that we "should" do, "must" do or are "supposed to" do. There are only things we want to do because they feel good to us. Period. End of story.

What could be simpler than that?

The Moment of Truth

Now, that you have what I believe to be "the secret of life," what are you doing here and now to live it?

This present moment is your moment of truth.

So, what are you going to do with it?

"To feel good or not," that is the only decision to make. And, this choice is forever yours.

"There is no coincidence, and nothing happens 'by accident.' Each event and adventure is called to your Self by your Self in order that you might create and experience Who You Really Are.

All that is required is to know this. For you are the creator of your reality, and life can show up no other way for you than that way in which you think it will.

Every prayer - every thought, every statement, every feeling - is creative. You were created to create -- not to react.

Conscious
creation is what is needed now. Stop moping. And stop thinking negative thoughts. Just get on with it! Tomorrow awaits your choice as to
how its going to be. Call the shots! Make it happen! You're in charge here.

You are, always and forever, in the moment of pure creation. The point of life is therefore to create—who and what you are, and then to experience that." - Neale Donald Walsch

Prayer for the New Year

Below is a powerful prayer that I came across recently written by Dawn Fleming. It can be repeated daily throughout the new year and beyond. May it bring each of you peace, miracles, and many blessings.

Prayer for the New Year:

Creator,

Transform my fear into peace.

Cultivate total peace within me.

Transform my resentment and anger into love.

Embrace me in so much love that I become a loving presence.

Transform the way that I see.

Open my eyes to your Light in all Life on our planet.

It is done!

All from Love, With Love for All.

Amen.
